AT&T Aspire Contribution for RoboBots Program

Alliance for Working Together Foundation Receives AT&T Aspire Contribution for RoboBots Program

Funding will help students understand how STEAM skills can benefit their future careers

MENTOR, Ohio (Oct. 19, 2017) — AT&T* was joined today by State Sen. John Eklund for the announcement of a $6,000 AT&T Aspire contribution to the Alliance for Working Together Foundation for its RoboBots program.

Through the RoboBots program, students work with a manufacturing mentor to design, build, test, program, document and ultimately battle a 15-pound combat robot.  Kicking off in October every year, the program concludes at the end of April with the RoboBots Battle.

RoboBots, which is free to schools and students, allows kids to apply the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) skills and concepts they’ve learned in the classroom to an actual working machine, and begin to understand where these skills can take them in a career someday.

“It’s exciting to see this effort by AWT – and the support from AT&T – that sparks creativity and empowers young people,” said Sen. Eklund. “This program gives a tremendous boost to students’ personal and career growth.”

The AWT Foundation’s mission is to promote the development of rewarding careers in manufacturing for the long-term success and growth of Ohio’s manufacturing community.

“It’s critical to support the next generation of innovators, and support from private companies plays a vital role in shaping the lives of young adults in our community,” said Alliance for Working Together Foundation Executive Director Alice Cable. “Thanks to AT&T, we are better able to meet the needs and interests of high school students, preparing them for the 21st century economy.”

AT&T’s signature philanthropic initiative, AT&T Aspire drives innovation in education – through technology, social innovation and relationships – to ensure all students have the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.

“Education is the best investment we can make to ensure our new hires start day one with the skills they need,” said AT&T Director of External Affairs Kevin Lynch.  “Through AT&T Aspire, we aim to help all students make their biggest dreams a reality.”
