Founded in 1967, Lakeland was the first college in Ohio founded by a vote of the people. Lakeland’s mission is to provide quality-learning opportunities to meet the social and economic needs of the community.
As a community college, making higher education accessible is a priority. The college continues to develop programs and classes to meet the needs of students, employers and the community.
Lakeland has a proud tradition of “the power of one.” Our very beginnings were the result of the hard work, dedication and persistence of a group of individuals committed to their vision of higher learning for people in Northeast Ohio. As the vision of service continues, you make Lakeland the growing, energetic and successful institution that it is today.
