Ohio (June 7, 2022) – Recently state lawmakers passed HB 687, the $3.5 billion biennial state capital bill, which includes $500,000 for the Alliance for Working Together (AWT) Northeast Ohio Transformation Training Center located at 8980 Tyler Boulevard in Mentor, Ohio.

“Mindful investments of taxpayer dollars into projects like the AWT Northeast Ohio Transformation Training Center will produce immediate results,” stated Representative Jamie Callender (R-Concord).

“AWT is very grateful to Governor DeWine and our Lake County delegation for the funding contained in HB 687,” according to Teresa Simons, Executive Director of AWT. The AWT Northeast Ohio Transformation Training Center will be a world-class, industry 4.0/SMART Manufacturing training center and a hub for workforce development, education, and industry sector collaboration.

“While competition for capital bill funding was fierce, we strongly believe that AWT’s mission of preparing our workforce for the manufacturing jobs of today and the future is critical,” commented Senator Jerry Cirino (R-Kirtland).

The AWT Training Center will fill a gap in K-12 and adult worker training in Northeast Ohio. AWT has business members that will be utilizing the facility for training purposes. In addition, Lake Shore Compact will utilize the space for their high school technical training and our pre-apprenticeship training. “Manufacturing has been a focus of mine for some time. I am proud to support the work AWT is doing in growing careers in manufacturing,” stated Senator Kenny Yuko (D-Richmond Heights).

The AWT Workforce Transformation Facility will allow businesses to come together to train local talent to fill the 4,000+ open manufacturing positions at the speed of business for the sustainability of the manufacturing industry in Northeast Ohio. “Working together in establishing a skilled manufacturing workforce in Lake County is vital to the long-term economic success of our community and its citizens. Our area’s quality of life will certainly benefit from the investment in the AWT Transformation Training Center.” Representative Dan Troy (D-Willowick)
