October was a busy month as we celebrated Manufacturing Month. The Transformation Training Center was filled for NEOEA STEM Day, Apprenticeships, Intermediate Blueprint Reading, WorkAdvance, tailored manufacturer training, the OMJ Career Fair, and so much more. AWT received a Helping Hands Award from the Lake County Council on Aging at their Annual Meeting on October 22.
Our 12th Annual Think Manufacturing Career Expo was the largest yet. Held at North High School, over 40 manufacturers interacted with almost 1,000 students.

November’s events include classroom visits to elementary schools, Thanksgiving Break STEM Day, Apprenticeships, and our series of classes for Intro to Milling, Turning, and GD&T, and WorkAdvance. Plan ahead for Intermediate GD&T in December.
Utilize AWT’s Training Center to provide basic manufacturing training for your new hires. AWT can tailor a WorkAdvance session at our training center to cover basic blueprint reading, shop math, the art of machining, and metrics and measurement.

Continue your learning with Intro to GD&T.
Blueprints speak a language. GD&T is one of the most common and important languages on blueprints today, and once you understand it, you can better communicate with engineering, customers, and vendors. This class will help you understand and interpret drawing requirements.
Our Intro to GD&T is a focused, 3-hour class that covers symbols, datums, and how to interpret common callouts.
Make a glowing torch for STEM Day.
